The challenge
Our customer requested a generic design to fit 4 different components. Next to that, the extremely sensitive surface of the parts as well as the particular curving generated additional complexity.
The solution
In line with the logistic conditions (limited transport distance) and general specs of the customer our design team developed a steel rack with a textile dunnage as textile offers great protection to the most sensitive part finishes out there. It is also the most appropriate technology for generic packaging systems as the dividers are (contrary to solutions like EPP or vacuum forming) not shaped 100% acc. to the shape of the part allowing for a certain degree of variance in the geometry.
The results
Next to the initial customer requirements on part protection and a one-size-fits-all solution, a thorough analysis of his logistic setting (short transport distance, outside storage, frequent loading and unloading) were key drivers for our design team during the development process. The outcome is a transport rack which combines a generic design with durability and best-in-class protection, thus reducing the customers quality defects to an absolute minimum. This is our strength, what we are good at and known for.
